Traditional braces have been the only solution to straighten teeth for a while. Recent technology has allowed Clear Aligners to be a great alternative, offering a subtle, accessible option to resolve straightening solutions.
Clear aligners aren’t invisible, but compared to traditional metal braces they are less noticeable. Clear aligners fit tightly over your teeth and this gives them a more natural look instead of the metal wires and brackets on traditional braces.
How Clear Aligners Straighten Teeth
If you want to explore Clear Aligners as an option to help straighten your teeth, the process starts by contacting our clinic and booking an appointment. We’ll consult with you to make sure it will work with your straightening goals.
The treatment starts with a 3D scan of your mouth, which we use to create a digital image of your teeth. The scan is sent off to a lab technician who creates a custom plan for the appliance.
Have a custom fit for your clear aligners is important for proper treatment and comfort. The scans help us ensure that we are adjusting accordingly for the duration of an alignment with approval from the patient.
Upon approval of the treatment plan, we start the fabrication of your aligners. Once the appliance is completed, it’s delivered to our office. This typically takes 4 weeks after we do the first scan. When the appliance comes in to the office, we’ll give you a call so you can come in for your first fitting.
In the first treatment, we may place special teeth-coloured bumps. These are known as “clear aligner attachments” and they help make sure that the retainers are controlling the movement of your teeth the proper way.
When the clear aligner appliances are fitting properly and comfortable, we send them home with you to continue your treatment.
We’ll set up follow-up appointments periodically to help track and adjust your treatment accordingly.
