Consultation:
Let’s start with the consultation. Our dentists will review all medical history to make sure that we can offer the Dysport Botox treatment safely. Nothing is more important to us than ensuring the treatment is safe for you.
Next we discuss goals. Are you looking for medical treatment to alleviate discomfort or looking for more of an aesthetic treatment?
We take all the points discussed and evaluate the anatomy of your face, planning out the appropriate injection sites for your goals.
Photographs are taken before we do anything with the treatment and preparation. We will also take several photographs before proceeding with the treatment and preparation. These photographs, taken from multiple angles, let us see how the treatment is progressing in certain areas so that adjustments can be made on future treatments.
Preparation:
Your dentist will mark the spots for injections. They do this using a dermal marker that washes off easily simply with soap, warm water and a bit of scrubbing.
Dental assistants will assist with the procedure by preparing the Dysport botox solution.
Treatment / Injection:
We use an insulin needle with a fine point for minimal discomfort. The needle doesn’t go in very deep, it’s applied just above the muscle.
Your dentist injects a small amount of the Dysport botox into the areas marked during preparation.
The injections are generally painless and are done with little to no discomfort to patients.
The treatment usually takes between 10-30 minutes, timed on how many injection sites need to be applied. But anticipate having your first few treatments being a little longer as we ease you into the process.
Post-Treatment Care:
Try to avoid any strenuous activity, as well as consumption of alcohol, for up to a full 24 hours. Your dentist will give you some guidance on a timeline that works best for you.
Don’t touch, massage or irritate the treated areas, as it may spread the toxin and cause unintended results in your treatment.
